Metal in the material stream is a quiet drain on a recycling line. It dulls screens, damages granulator blades, contaminates regrind, and shows up later as a rejected part or a customer complaint. Adams Engineers works with Bunting, a leader in metal detection and separation, to bring proven equipment to plastics recyclers and processors. Our Bunting line covers the full path of your material, from the feed and discharge conveyors that move it, to the magnets and separators that pull out ferrous and non-ferrous metal before it reaches your process. The result is a cleaner stream, less downtime, and more value from every pound of material.

METAL SEPARATION EQUIPMENT

Eddy Current Separators

Eddy current separators pull non-ferrous metals out of the material stream, including aluminum, copper, brass, and zinc. A fast-rotating magnetic rotor creates a field that pushes these metals away from the rest of the material, sending them into a separate discharge. For plastics recyclers, this means cleaner regrind and fewer surprises in the final product. Eddy current separators are a strong fit for shred lines, post-consumer plastics, and any stream where aluminum or other non-ferrous metals are a known risk.

ACW Heavy Duty Air Cooled Crossbelt Magnetic Separator

The ACW is a self-cleaning crossbelt magnet built for heavy-duty use. It hangs above a conveyor and pulls ferrous metal up and out of the material as it passes underneath, then carries the metal off to a side discharge. Air cooling lets it run for long stretches without the cost or complexity of an oil-cooled unit. Plants use the ACW on shred lines, single-stream recycling, and any high-volume process where ferrous contamination is a daily concern.

Suspension Magnetic Separator

Suspended magnets hang above a conveyor and pull ferrous metal up and out of the material as it moves. They are simple, reliable, and a common first line of defense in a recycling plant. Self-cleaning and manual-clean versions are both available, depending on the volume of metal in the stream. For many operations, a suspended magnet is the easiest way to capture tramp ferrous before it gets into the granulator or separator.
